A few years after this photo of The Bridge of No Return, GIs cutting branches from the trees on this side of the river were attacked by North Korean soldiers. The North Koreans seized the GIs' axes and used them to hack one man to death, and beat another soldier to death. Several ROK soldiers were beaten in the unprovoked attack.

The US protested vehemently but took no other action. No US President / CIC has ever done a thing about the two murders.

George W. Bush, with all his bellicosity about North Korean nukes, has not yet mentioned the murder of those GIs.
